Biography
Jacky W. Tang specializes in innovation and growth. Dr Tang is Executive Director of the Synintel Institute and Professional Consultant in the CUHK Business School at Chinese University of Hong Kong. Previously, he served as Dissertation Supervisor at University of Warwick, Assistant Professor of Teaching, Director of MSc Programs and Associate Director of Taught Postgraduate Programs at Lingnan University, and Lecturer (part-time) at City University of Hong Kong. His research interests include innovation, sustainability, consumer motivation and self-control. He integrates his teaching with the concepts and principles backed by research and steeped in experience. Besides, Jacky brings an exploratory spirit to some of today’s most concerned questions about innovation and human potential.
Prior to joining academia, Dr Tang was an experienced business executive and serial entrepreneur. He founded and co-founded four companies; he also held management positions in leading multinationals, including Philips, Renesas Electronics and Towngas, with over 25 years of industry experience in marketing, innovation development, business management and consulting. In 2013, he founded Synintel Institute, a strategy and innovation consulting firm, and has been providing consulting services and executive training to multinational and startup companies, such as Hitachi, China Telecom, Baidu, Huawei, Galanz, STMicroelectronics, IBM China, Henderson, Vtech, Bank of China, and Mizuho Bank.
Jacky received his Doctor of Business Administration (Innovation) from City University of Hong Kong, and holds an MSc in Information Management from University College Dublin and a Bachelor in Business Administration from University of Georgia. Moreover, he graduated with an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation at MIT Sloan School of Management and completed an executive program in innovation management at Harvard Business School.
